Your HNI Investment Policy Statement: One Page That Protects Wealth

Most portfolio mistakes happen in a hurry: a new product looks exciting, the market feels risky, or a friend recommends something. An Investment Policy Statement (IPS) is the opposite of hurry. It is one page that tells you what you will do, and what you will not do, before emotions enter the room.

An IPS is not paperwork. It is governance. It defines your goals, time horizon, liquidity needs, acceptable drawdowns, and your rules for AIF, PMS, and SIF exposure. When a new idea shows up, you do not debate opinions. You simply check: does it match the IPS?

March is a great time to write or refresh your IPS because it sets the tone for the new financial year. When the rules are clear, your portfolio becomes calmer, and calm is the environment where compounding survives.

Truvest Insight: Clarity beats confidence. Rules beat moods.
